Newsletter 2

13 October 2025

Hi, welcome to the second my widowed friends newsletter! I'm Andrea. I founded mwf and I write these monthly newsletters to share what's happening across our growing community. This is the second newsletter and we have made such a lot of progress since last month. I'm excited to share it with you.

Group News

Our groups in Bude, St Austell and Truro start this week. Helston, Camborne and Falmouth start next week. The groups in Hayle, Liskeard, and Newquay should also be ready to start soon.

We are also starting groups in Bodmin, Callington, Launceston, Penryn, Penzance, Redruth, Saltash, St Blazey/Par, St Ives, Torpoint and Wadebridge. These don't have enough members yet, so if you are in one of these areas, join now to help get your local group started.

Ways to Help mwf

Please publicise the group so that more people know about us. Ways to help:

  • Put up posters - members will already have 3 posters, please put these up somewhere. If anyone else wants posters then just get in touch.
  • Follow our Facebook page and share some of our posts.
  • Talk about us! If you know anyone widowed, or who cares about someone widowed, then tell them about us.

Members - Outing of the Month

Once your group gets going, you don't only have coffee to look forward to. Why don't you organise an outing? A good place to start might be booking to go out for a Sunday Lunch at a pub or hotel nearby. One of your group will probably know a good place to go. It's easy to arrange - just ask who wants to go and one person phone and book a table. Remember to make sure everyone can get there OK, and then off you go. All pay your own way and have a great time.

Your Ideas

If you have any ideas for the groups then let us know.

A couple of things that people have already suggested:

  1. Can we have a weekend group for people that work, and for younger people?
  2. Can people visit other groups as well as their own?

These aren't possible at the moment, but could be in the future. Do you have any other ideas for us to think about?
