Widow? Widower? Spending too much time alone?
Meet other local widowed people for coffee and a chat.

About mwf
my widowed friends mwf is a network of weekly, local, coffee groups where widowed people in Cornwall meet to improve their social lives and make new friends.
How Groups Work
Our coffee groups are the backbone of the network. Face-to-face, regular meetings and opportunities to organise other events too.
Everyone has a regular coffee group
When you join, you pick a coffee group that you will go to each week. You would normally chose the group nearest to your home, but you can choose another if it's more convenient for you.
Group Size
Our groups range in size from 8 members upwards. We have a maximum number for each group so that you will all fit in your venue.
Meetings
The groups meet at 11am at the same venue and on the same day every week. We meet as normal on bank holidays, provided your regular venue is open. The only day we don't have any meetings is Christmas Day.
Meeting Locations
Meetings are only open to members, so we don't advertise the exact location online. All venues are central in the town or city, generally within ten minutes walk of public transport options.
Who Can Join?
Anyone whose long-term life partner has died, however long ago, whether you were married, in a civil partnership or co-habiting. Whatever your age, background or beliefs you are welcome at mwf.
What We're Not
- We aren't a counselling service, but mutual, informal support is inevitable
- We are not a dating group, and any relationships within the group must be discreet
- We are not open to non-members, so members know that everyone in the group is also widowed and understands the challenges they face

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get more details?
This website has a lot of information, so look here first. Then, if you still have questions, contact us.
Can you tell me where the venue is for my Town?
We do not run drop-in groups and try to ensure that our groups are only attended by members. So we don’t publicise our venues, and details will only be given to you after you join. All venues are central in the Town/City, and within 5-10 minutes’ walk of public transport. We choose venues that are friendly and large enough e.g. cafes, pubs, hotels.
What if I can’t afford the membership fee?
We can give some reduced fee memberships. If your budget is really tight please contact us.
Do I have to go every week?
Life interferes sometimes, you may be ill or have other commitments, but try to go as often as you can. Firstly because it helps you get to know people, and secondly, when the groups are new and don’t have many members, you are needed to keep people company!
